Friday 16th March - Foreverr Young roll into town with their superb covers from the Bon Scott era of the mighty AC/DC.
They have always put on a superb show and tonights will be no different. Only thing to watch out for is Angus running up and down the place. Coming up this Weekend we have another stonker in store for you after a very very busy weekend.

Upstairs in the Nightclub we have another great selection of tracks you love to shake it all about to on the dance floor straight after the live action on stage finishes off. Open till 3am both Friday & Saturday Nights still with FREE entry upto 11pm. So no matter what time of the night you come in there is something going on. Live bands from around 8pm, Dj's till 3am.

The Live Action this weekend brings in a contrast of talents.

Friday 9th March we welcome back some familiar faces as ZULU
Former members of Kontroband that featured last year at Ibiza Rocks that also see's some big names perform these guys were fantastic and did more than hold their own.
They are back and ready to pick up from where they left off, it's superb to have these guys back with their fresh and unmistakable sound that is not to be missed

Saturday 10th March also brings back a name from the past to Bathgate to perform in the Dread. You may recall a band by the name of Ryans Express back in the day. Well John Hannon who played bass has continued to play since then and has ISIS on the road. John along with seasoned musician's will cover some amazing stuff similar to Henry Gorman a few weeks back.
Another Cracking gig that is FREE to come and see. For those who don't remember the name from then you will once you see these guys play.

"The Best fun you will have with your clothes on" was a comment past after their debut last year. This time round the lads are all in on our Southern Comfort Mardi Gra theme night. You have to come and join in this one remembering to dress up too. We have loads of Freebies to give away during the gig but the main attraction of the night is to see the superb stage show and awesome tracks covered Schtick of Rock style free of charge. We launched FREE advance tickets that are valid upto the stage time of 9pm that book your spot in the gig. It's still free at the door but when it's full - I mean it We are FULL. Well at last we have the last weekend of February to see out and lets do it in style. Ready to welcome in March Madness next weekend.

We have had some superb gigs over the month of Feb with a couple of Ticket only Specials that have been superb from Henry Gorman and Metalleeka. All the bands featured had you Rockin and there's A LOT MORE to come in the next couple of months on the live stage and upstairs in the Rock Nightclub.

So to this weekend. Two cracking bands on Friday and Saturday that are no strangers to the Dread and have a strong following. Saturday 25th - Highway Jones

Another Classic Rock Special over the two levels tonight, Yes it's 70's 80's and 90's over the two levels with Mike kicking off the fun at 7pm in the Rock Bar.
Then at 9pm we have HIGHWAY JONES take over with some excellent Live music covering everything you love to hear and have a dance too. After the lads have you revving the action switches upstairs where our Rock Jock will take you thro till 3am with some classics along the way. Oh and it's FREE Entry again !

Just a wee extra blog this week to tell you about the Ticket only and FREE to come and see gigs coming up between now and the end of May along with another bout of madness.

All our Forthcoming gigs are listed on our main website and constantly updated, Facebook although handy is getting a tad busy these days and understandably hard to follow.
So your best best is to check in on www.dreadnoughtrock.com once a week where I'm sure you will see all the gigs including the Ticket only ones, along with any other details about special offers at the bar etc etc.
The site was overhauled at the tail end of 2011 and is even easier to navigate round so give it a try and save it to your favourites.

So lets kick off with this weekend and the specials and Ticket only events.
Friday we have CODEJAK back up from England who were superb the last time they traveled up. Over the last few months they have been touring with FOZZY on their UK series of tours. Now - the gig yet again has been made FREE to see but in another fit of MADNESS we have decided to bring back the FREE ROCK SHOTS on that night too.
Simply put we give you ONE Free shot from our FREE ROCK SHOT range. Yes a FREE Drink out of our pockets. You don't have to buy one to get one free or any carry on, you don't have to pay to get in either.
If you want a FREE Shot all you have to do is come in between 8.30pm and 10pm and get a voucher from the Paybooth/Cloakroom on the way in before heading into the bar if you want to. Simple.
The only suggestion I would make is when in why not hang around to catch CODEJAK live - for FREE too, I'm sure you won't be disappointed as they are only one of a few bands that have played for us that have made it onto the telly with one of their songs. Have a swatch and decide for yourself.

This Weekend promises some quality tunes in the Nightclub where this Saturday we will have another Classic Rock Night playing 70's,80's & 90's only all night long. Don't forget though that you still get a fantastic blend of old and new EVERY weekend upstairs in the nightclub celebrating it's 40th Anniversary in 2012.

The Live Music this Month is just superb - something for everyone. Classics from Chasar and the Henry Gorman Band and upto date originals from the likes of Codejak, Stuntman Mike and the Detours not to mention killer covers from Swagger,The Demons Eye & Highway Jones. This covers band have hundreds of gigs under their belt and join us for just the second time. They blew the doors aff the last time they took to the stage which was just brilliant to watch and listen to. Covering some great Rock songs that will get you dancing for sure. FREE Entry to see these guys. Rock Bar is open at 4pm with some background tunes before all hell breaks loose on stage around 9pm.

Saturday 4th Feb 2012 - CHASAR
This band have and always will be a one of the true greats that Scotland have produced. Their history and pedigree is just top class, simply too much to list here. All I can say is to come in and see these guys back in Bathgate at the one and only Rock Club in the Lothian's. Entry is FREE - I know we must be crazy to put bands on like this and not charge a penny to let you see and hear them. Rock Bar opens at high noon on a Saturday if you fancy a early start with the Live action kicking off at 9pm. Be early - You have been warned. Before and after the Chasar lads we start and finish a Classic Rock Night of 70's.80's & 90's tunes from the Rock Jocks in the Bar and Nightclub from 7pm right through to 3am.

DreadnoughtRock this Weekend.

At last January is just about done and dusted and pay weekend is ever closer so to see out everyone's most depressing month of the year. To kick it in to touch we have some cracking action upstairs and doon over the whole weekend to lift your spirits.

Starting the weekend as ever the Rock bar opens early if you prefer a quiet drink to yourself with a wee bit background music and video upto when the LIVE action takes over from about 9pm till around 11pm.

Once the the bands are finished in the Rock Bar the attention switches upstairs to the Rock Nightclub where a massive range of tracks are played right through till 3am. There's a bit of everything played during the course of the night from classic 70's Rock to newer tracks and everything in between that you can dance to.
Now in it's 40th year of Rocking you still get a wee bit of everything to tickle your fancy - musically of course !

Friday 27th Jan 2012 see THE SIGNS back to the stage to play some cracking covers. The tracks these guys take on are just superb and not to be missed. It's a FREE Ticket event so nae excuses for not dropping in to hear these guys. Live on stage at 9pm so don't be late !!

Saturday 28th Jan 2012 welcomes back Emergency Exit that are still Rocking after 35 years this year. So it's a bit of classic Punk from them covering some of the biggest hits from the biggest Punk bands mixed in with their own material. Again it's a FREE Ticket event and the lads take to the stage at 9pm.

As February creeps in next weekend a wee look ahead at some cracking LIVE action and some Special events in the Dreadnought.

Coming up this weekend at the Dreadnought we have more quality music on the way in the Rock Bar, Nightclub and on the Live stage.

Downstairs before the Live events on a Friday and Saturday kick in a great mixture of tracks are on offer to sit back and listen to.
We then switch over to introduce some LIVE music in the Rock Bar for a few hours that has something for everyone.
To keep upto date what is coming to West Lothian's Premier Rock Venue please keep an eye on the DreadnoughtRock.com website where ALL the upcoming live and Special events are promoted or keep an eye on the weekly Blog.

After the Live music is finished we then switch upstairs to the Rock Nightclub or Disco if you prefer. Now entering it's 40th year of Rock and still playing a broad, varied mix of classics and newer tracks that are great to dance too. Downstairs still has the same great music streamed down but at a nice volume to allow you to catch your breath or simply have a guid blether. Both levels open till 3am every weekend.

So from opening to closing time the THREE elements to the club pack in quite alot every weekend to suit everyone's taste in Rock.

Great local acts that play a great selection of original material with a smattering of covers.
SEED are truly unique with and Acoustic lead guitar and Banjo ! all backed up by a thundering drum and bass backbone. Mayfield Drive have some amazing original material to savour also.

A ceilidh band and then some, The Big Shoogle are like a cross between The Rolling Stones and William Wallace – electrifying traditional Scottish music as played by Jimi Hendrix, and then there are the covers of great pop and rock songs just in case you can’t handle a full on Big Shoogle ceilidh.

Biffy to SAHB and loads in between. So I'm sure there will be some moose, loose about the hoose before he hands upstairs to the build up and to see the bells in with John partying you all into 2012.

What a cracker of a weekend, Fist fights and Foreplay along with the mighty Led Astray provided the live entertainment with Iain, Mike and Billy cracking out some fantastic tunes on the turntables in the Jockboxes.
The lads from Fistfights were up against it in their first gig at the Dread trying to fight off the allure of people seeing Def Leppard, Motely Crue and Steel Panther live in Glasgow - All of which you could have heard in the Dread btw, but understand you wanting to see the triple header. Well done to them and no doubt will see them back in 2012 at some point. Scotland's very own Led Astray didn't show any mercy on Saturday playing nearly 2 and a half hours of Classic Led Zeppelin in an electrifying show which was simply superb in a near sell out performance. We also had a special Classic Rock event during and after the gig over the two levels courtesy of our Rock Jox. Playing the finest tunes from the 70's,80's and 90's all night long which hopefully hit the mark with you which we will no doubt will see again on a regular basis - Although EVERY weekend still features a massive selection of Classic Tunes from ALL our RockJox in the Dreadnought. Please MAKE SURE you keep AN EYE on the website and Facebook Profile for future Classic only nights if you missed this one, but as I said earlier - EVERY Weekend features a great variety of Rock at West Lothian's Premier Rock Venue to suit all tastes during the course of the night.

Saturday 17th December sees the return of Oswald. A fantastic trio that always entertain the crowd in an explosive performance to rival anything that you would Happily pay fortunes to go and see. We have support tonight from two bands in the form of The Defaults and a local band called The Rules. Both worth watching for the future and glad to see them debut in the Dreadnought for the first time.
Entry for the gig is FREE again ! Doors open are open at mid day on Saturdays but the live action will crack off about 8pm.

Well Winter arrived over the weekend there... Storms, Rain, Sleet and Snow BUT that didn't stop anything at the Dread. A blistering couple of Gigs from PantZ and Lewis Hamilton had the temperature rising to boiling point as the guys played some excellent covers and original material that was simply dazzling.

Its been a year since these lads graced the Dread stage and its fantastic to have them back to to play tribute to the mighty LED ZEPPELIN.
Tickets are well sold but still have a few left for the gig but grab them now before they get to critical conditions online from WeGotTickets or from the Rock Bar on Friday night. Remaining tickets will be sold at the door on the night but cannot say how many will be left.

Now if that wasn't enough Classic Rock for you, we are continuing this special event upstairs after the gig finishes and having a Classic Rock Disco in the nightclub through till 3am.
Mike will start this all off in the Rock Bar before the Led Astray gig. It then all hands over to the Rock Jock upstairs. This weekend we have some amazing talent live at DreadnoughtRock.

Friday night we see the return of Stuntman Mike A relatively new act formed in Glasgow in July 2009, long time friends previously working in different bands come together to create Stuntman Mike, an explosive live act led by the charismatic and powerful voice of Scott Hetherington. March 2010, and a debut single release sends the Stuntmen around the UK on tour, followed by a second tour in September 2010 and a couple of appearances on our very own stage.

Also on the billing we have our very own local lads Coholic.
Coholic are a 3 piece alternative rock band based in Scotland with dynamic, dramatic and passionate songs about all of the above and much more.
With this kind of passion twinned with their no holds barred live assault they are truly a band to look out for. This year will see them work on numerous recordings and continue their live assault across the whole of Scotland and beyond. Keep your eyes open and your ears clean.

Saturday brings "THE" Stranglers tribute act in the UK to the mighty Dread.

STRAIGHTEN OUT are the premier Stranglers tribute band out there...with an extensive set-list that spans two solid hours as they re-create the 'early years' sound of The Stranglers, complete with a keyboard rig that is the same model as the original used by Mr. Greenfield himself in the 1970's...!
The growling bass sound and the quirky guitar riffs are all there to be heard as is the dual vocal 'attack' from the two frontmen a la Burnel-Cornwell as they rip through all the classics: 'Peaches', 'Hanging Around', 'No More Heroes', '5 Minutes', 'The Raven', 'Walk On By', 'Straighten Out', 'Down In The Sewer' and many more as they cover virtually the whole of the first three Stranglers' albums and beyond...Straighten Out - live and unleashed - will take you on a nostalgia trip that transports you back to those raw, powerful, exhilarating times when The Stranglers emerged through the quagmire of mediocrity to produce some of the finest tunes ever written...Straighten Out will put you back in that place...!
Bassist Shaggy and keyboard player Mick ('The Doc') were together in previous Stranglers tribute band 'Four More Heroes' and it was only natural that these two continued on after their demise to form 'Straighten Out' given their desire to keep playing live and love of Stranglers music...they set the platform with the growling bass and swirling keyboard sound so essential to reproducing the authentic Stranglers sound and they are joined by the powerhouse Casey on drums and Phil steps up to give you the 'Hugh' element to complete the fearsome foursome...
Such is their talent and professionalism in delivering the Stranglers' 'sound' to such a high standard that at one gig Baz Warne (Stranglers' guitarist/vocalist) came on stage to perform a song with them...kudos!
Straighten Out are a 'must see' tribute band who'll leave an indelible impression in your head...

World Class Weekend

What a weekend !

Landslide were back in the Dread after a long absence from our stage and were superb with a great range of covers that entertained all night long. Many thanks to them

Saturday saw the return by popular demand of the Paul Rose Band. I'm speechless to describe how this four piece line up with Paul on lead guitar and vocals, Ted McKenna - yes the one and only on the drums backed up by Kenny Hutchieson on Bass and Colin Train on keyboards performed. "Simply awesome" & "The best band I've seen in 30 years" were just two comments from the night.
We had a really high turn out again and everyone who witnessed an awesome musical masterclass had an amazing night including myself and all the staff.
But I have to be honest and say I was left a little disappointed that so many missed out who said they were coming, many with tickets and didn't !

For those who missed them again I do have to ask why ?
Now I appreciate it could be for many reasons but when you have this kind of talent come to the Dreadnought you have to come down and see for yourself what they can do.
It's really hard to find world class musicians like these guys let alone get them to play in your local venue for the cost of a couple of pints !
But hey that's upto you, I would just hope when they or similarly talented musicians that appear week after week at your local live music venue that you make the effort and come along and show your support especially when the vast majority of our gigs are free to come along and see.

Many bands and travelling support from out with the area all comment week after week how lucky the people of West Lothian and Bathgate are to have something like our venue.

Driller has pulled out on Friday 11th - but

The $ellouts with Tam Howson on the drums step into the fold. Playing a massive selection of rock Classics and newbies it looks like a great wee night in store with guys that are no stranger to the Dread.

Then on Saturday 12th Nov we have a touch of old fashioned Rock with The Frauds and The Media Whores in this double trouble header.

The Media Whores made it to our Rock Radio Battle of the Bands final back in July and went down really well. They are joined with one of our Local Bands The Frauds who all frequent the Dread on a regular basis.

After each gig you are welcome to join in the fun upstairs in the Rock Nightclub where a vast selection of your favourite Rock tracks are belted out till 3am if your man, or woman enough.

What a weekend and what a party to end all parties. Words cannot describe Saturday night at DreadnoughtRock... just awesome. Fantastic night of entertainment and was a pleasure to be involved to bring you Alma Fiera live and work my fingers to the bone like all the Rock Crew to make it a crackerjack of a night. Thanks go out to all who made it a night to remember and will defo go down in the new Dread history books.

What another belting weekend at the Dread. Many thanks to all our Live bands and Rock Jocks for keeping the place pumping. Well done to Swagger, Lethal Lender, Immanis and Mair who all provided the Live music over the weekend.

Well its that time again to make sure the goblins don't touch your ghoulies and our annual Halloween weekend with the Halloween Party on Saturday 29th Oct.

This Friday to kick things off we have The Scottish Rock Collective Tour bus roll into the Dread with Coholic, Mayfield Drive, Sound over Silence and Warren Capaldi all providing the LIVE entertainment. Upstairs on Both Friday and Saturday nights the Rock Jocks will be hard at it to make you rock till you drop right upto 3am.

Saturday's Halloween PARTAY ! Brings in ALMA FIERA as our Live or tonight DEAD entertainment with a great selection of classic rock and a few halloween classics too for good measure.

Well what a cracking triple header we have this weekend.

Metal, Blues/Rock and good ol' AC/DC Classics.

Thursday hosts 4 Metal Bands that are FREE to come and see from 7pm.
We have 15 Times Dead & Komatoze with local guys Demonic sins breaking in a new drummer and Lethal Tender all on the bill. Pure Metal not to be missed.
Friday we have Lewis Hamilton and the Boogie Bros back Rocking the Dread with some covers and Lewis's own Blues Rock tracks that are just amazing. FREE Entry again - Doors 8pm.
Saturday has come round mega fast. I booked these guys in March for this September Gig and looking forward to it.
We have Bons Balls AC/DC Tribute roll into town - Some tickets are still available at a megre £7 to see and hear something special at the Dread.
So what ever muisc you are into there is something for everybody but don't fart about - make your mind up and get down to see one or all these acts in the Premier LIVE music and Rock Venue in the Lothian's.....and remember on Friday and Saturday on the upper level you are more than welcome to enter the Rock nightclub after the Live music events.

Colour Coded get their Passports oot to come to Bathgate.

Down from the darkest depths of Dundee the guys from Colour Coded are ready to bump a few taxi fares to make it doon to the Mecca of Rock in West Lothian this Friday night to let rip on stage and hopefully play some songs too at the Dread.
With a brand new single out soon they are well worth the seeing on the DreadnoughtRock Stage.
When the success of The View seemed to be shaping the sound of most local music. Colour Coded stuck to what they do best and kept writing and playing a different type of indie rock music, based around melodic hooks and powerful vocals. The quirky guitar sounds and driving drumbeats are the trademarks of a band that, while adding to their repertoire, have never lost track of the core sound and ideas which entwined them together in the first place.

So get yourself in as this is another FREE Ticket event. Doors 8pm with the Rock Disco on straight afterwards till 3am and remember if you are in b4 11pm then you are in for FREE also

Well what a weekend !
Thursday to Sunday in a blur.
Many thanks to all the bands on our monthly Thursday Metal Only night - Lethal Tender, OCD and Truth be Told.
A million thanks to our very own Alma Fiera on Friday that always Rock the place down and Friday was no exception - They Rawked !
The Rock Jocks belted out the classics to current as they normally do every weekend at the Dread on Saturday night and wait for it .........
The Paul Rose Band who blew everyone away on Sunday night.
If I could swear and I normally do, it would be could only be described as fedling brilliance... just brilliance.
Ted McKenna on the drums at the Dread FFS ! Ahhh for all those too old to know what I mean by that ask a passing waine wi a phone.
Even our old mate Tom Russell from Rock Radio dropped in for a half pint and some Irn Bru.
If you missed it - shame on you ! However you may get a chance to see them again before the year is oot with any luck in the busy schedule of the guys and the Dread.
Do NOT and I mean DO NOT miss them again or ...I'll .. I'll....I'll do stuff...! mibbey. mibbey no.

A long weekend at the Dread in store kicking of with some Metal on Thursday night ( 30th June ) Three live bands set to Rock the Dread - Lethal Tender , OCD and Truth be Told. Looks like another cracker.
Free entry at the doors from 7.30pm

If that's not your bag then why not drop in on Friday Night when we have one of Scotland's top covers bands - ALMA FIERA rattling out some good old Rock to tickle your fancy.
Again FREE Entry at the dooor from 7.30pm. Rock Club will commence straight after the gig on upper level and its FREE entry upto 11pm - Sorted.

The Rock Jocks take over on Saturday night from 7pm playing Rock tracks ranging from the 70's right upto date on the both levels. Soft Rock to Hard Rock it's all in a nights work from the Dread Jocks trying to please all the punters bearing in mind the vast selection of requests that get asked for every night.

Sunday night is the star of the show this weekend - Two of the most highly regarded musicians come to the Dread !! Paul Rose with his band and Ted McKenna on drums.
"How did ye get them to play" - Jack asked the other day...
Well that's a secret but what's more important you all come to see something that you might never get a chance to see again in Scotland !!!
Bottom line is get the finger oot and get doon to the Dread on Sunday night from the back of 7 with 7 Scottish pounds to get in and enjoy possibly the gig of the year at the Dread.

Drinks Offers for the Skint

Well in this time of Skintness we at the Dread do listen to the Dread faithful.

As well as offering FREE entry to the Rock bar and Nightclub every weekend before 11pm to take in one of many Live gigs or chill out to our early evening Rock Jock Sessions we have rolled out some deals to help the pocket even further.

Before I tell you all about the deals......................
A few folk have commented or chuntered about the cost of a pint compared to a pub.
You know the usual "no drinking in there it's too dear" sketch.

Well look at it this way for a second before you think anything else..............

Just say you drink 5 pints a moderate night out ????
Hell lets say you are on a bender and drink 10 pints or split 10 drinks between you and your partner.... the difference in our pint to another being 30p a pint say ? Not bad as we are technically classed as a nightclub...... however read on.

Time for the calculator 10 x 30p = £3 over a whole night in the Dread different from sitting in your pub.

Can I ask......
Do you get cracking FREE to see bands in the pub for 2 hours sometime more every weekend ?
Do you get FREE entry to the Rock bar and night club until 3am in the pub every weekend ?
Do you get your Rock music played in a clean and well stocked Bar and NightClub with experienced Rock Jocks rattling out the tunes every weekend in your pub ?
Be in a safe environment with trained security staff on hand to look after things ?

I could chunter on but the point is for the cost difference of a pint you get all that laid on every week, I don't want to lecture anyone or anything. I just think it's not a bad deal in this day in age to have all this on your doorstep every week especially the entertainment.

So as I was saying...............................
In the last couple of weeks we have launched a few drinks offers that will continue on unlike some other deals that come and go around town.
We introduced a bottle of beer from £1.90 , a Vodka and mixer from £1.60 and Vodka based Baby Blue or Pinks for again just £1.90 a bottle a month ago and proving very popular.

World Class Music Comes to DreadnoughtRock Bathgate

Music fans in West Lothian are in for a treat when rock and blues legends The Paul Rose Band play an intimate show at Dreadnought Rock in Bathgate. The band is led by the award winning virtuoso guitarist, who has been voted 'Best Guitarist In The World' by readers of Guitarist Magazine and 'Best Stratocaster Player In The Uk & Ireland' by Fender guitars, hit the venue on Sunday 3rd July. Paul has been playing guitar since he was old enough to walk and was playing sell out shows by the age of 15. Paul caught the attention of legendary Irish blues guitarist Rory Gallagher when he was 16 and was won a UK wide competition to find the countries best guitarist. Rory gave Paul his 62' reissue strat as a prize, a guitar which he still uses today.

With eleven album released, his fan base is worldwide and he is a regular headliner at Blues festivals across the the globe. Paul also travels to music fairs across the world as the face of Framus Warwick guitar, with the company even releasing a Paul Rose signature model.

One of the reasons that the band are so tight live, is due to drummer Ted McKenna. Ted, from Coatbridge, was the drummer with The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Rory Gallagher, Michael Schenker and many others. Long regarded as one of the best drummers in the world, the onstage chemistry between Paul and Ted is evident. The band will be unveiling their new 4 piece line up for the first time and they promise to make it quite a night to remember. Paul said 'Whenever we play in Scotland the audiences are amazing. This is the first time we have been to the Dreadnought, but its reputation is well know in the rock and blues world. I've been told by friends that it is very special indeed'.

With a show that mixes some well known blues classics with Paul's original compositions, it is his amazing skills on the guitar that leave audiences with their jaws on the floor. His playing style has been compared to Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa and Ritchie Blackmore but we will let you make up your mind. One thing is for sure, you will know you are watching something very, very special.
