LIVE MUSIC UPDATE 29 June 2020

Hopefully the news of the club being able to RE-OPEN on 17 July will have sunk in announced on 26 June with you all. It's fantastic news and look forward to the first step in the club returning to normal operations. If you missed it we will be allowed to open in PUB ONLY MODE.
ALL pubs and clubs will not be allowed live or loud music until instructed or updated by Scot Gov on in the 9 July review (hopefully) and as they have stated already will not be allowed until 23 July at the very earliest.
It still may well be later than that before we see a restricted return to hosting live music. So prepare for more adjustments as we go.

It will be different for a wee while for us all as social distancing will apply to all pubs no matter what you have been doing, what you think or whatever the distance will be (currently at 2m at time of writing) or adjustments that come in the near future.

As a result of these expected restrictions more events, in particular those that have sold out or sold alot of tickets in advance prior or during the pandemic may still have to be postponed (even into August and beyond dependant on the guidance we are yet to have).
It would be reckless to say to hell with it - we are open and let hundreds attend an event that could and should be moved for everyone's well being and safety (possibly for a second time).
Better to prepare you and be upfront. Trying to plan round anything just now is like trying to heard cats. You get a hold of one, three others escape so have to start all over.

We do hope to get live music rocking again as soon as possible at a level of attendance that is safe, enjoyable and financially viable.
Many won't know or possibly care about the financial deals put in place with bands, but as many rely on good attendance for the band fee to be covered or for the band to be paid for their services it's a major factor moving forward in-conjunction with everyone's safety that will also now come into play.
Just cutting levels of attendance back for the sake of getting the gig to happen would hurt the club further at a very delicate time of having zero income in the last 3 months that cannot be afforded if the original deal with the band would still have to stand.
Similarly the bands and artists who although desperate to be back performing would potentially also have to take away alot less than planned so please don't assume it's fair to ask them as these guys haven't' been able to earn a penny either.
It's another double whammy for the live side of things.
A triple whammy factoring in all those who want to attend gigs again but can't.

SO as we have done through all this uncertainty we would ask to be patient with us and the bands while all these factors are overcome which take time.

We will get gigs on that suit the budget and attendance levels allowable, be safe and as ever enjoyable.

Keep checking in here on the NEWS PAGE of the website as well as social media for updates as it's going to be an ever evolving process from Mid July I'm afraid.
With your help and support will be worth it.

UPDATE on Gig's due to have happened on 17 & 18 July featuring The Lewis Hamilton Band and McFleetwood.
for the reasons explained above about live music not being permitted just yet and review process still to be announced fully we have no option to postpone both events to 2021.
A new date will be set for Lewis and the lads.
A new date of Sat 6 March 2021 has been announced at the time of writing this for McFLEETWOOD.
ALL tickets purchased WILL BE VALID for the new date or refundable if you so wish. Emails from Skiddle are already on their way to ALL TICKET HOLDERS.

NR ROCKS 2020 scheduled for 22 August and XSLF scheduled on 12 September have also been posted for technical, travel and financial reasons.
New date for NR ROCKS being arranged soon.
XSLF now 22 May 2021.
These have been moved for all the reasons above but with the added complication of lack of advance sales despite the guarantee of  a refund/booking fee credit many and understandably have been holding off to see what unfolds.
Unfortunately some events cannot wait for ever on the support they deserve so an early decision for travel and technical reasons have been made.

Please support the club and future events folks.  What's the worst that will happen ?
The date gets re-arranged, you get a refund and a full credit for the booking fee.
Not the end of the world.
The alternative is events still having to be cancelled or postponed as they won't be financially viable where neither the club or bands can now afford to make a loss after having zero income for nearly 4 or more months.

Stay Safe - The Rock Crew.

26 June 2020 News Update

At long last some Great News to bring that after what feels like years rather than months we now have a date to work with and begin to RE-OPEN !

Now before you all lose control of your bodily functions please note that it is still subject to the nod and wink from Scot Gov for all Scottish pubs to re-open on 15 July. A Wednesday ?. ....??

We won't be opening up on a Wednesday !

We can hold of another day or day if you can and plan to re-open with what will be a REVISED working plan in PUB MODE either on Thu 16 July or Friday 17 July.
Why say either a Thursday or Friday ?
Well, after all the years of trying to make a Thursday viable a decade ago where there just wasn't enough support to make it pay enough or have enough people come in unless there was a special event on it got to the point of why open if no one wanted or did come out to play.
The long and short of it is we are still undecided but given the current situation will give it another go for the short term anyway. If there is enough support then we can keep it going, you never know it might come back into fashion going out for a few hours on a Thursday night.
If not well you know the rest.
We are also considering a SUNDAY SESH as well - late afternoon to early evening so not to kick the arse out of things. Again this will be subject to change and dependant on support/attendance.

WHAT WON'T be subject to change is the ROCKING EVERY FRIDAY and SATURDAY will be back !!

Quite strange when you look back how many things were taken for granted, but things have changed so dramatically in the last three months, also how we will be able to work and for sure will be different for another wee while anyway.

SO what is PUB MODE ?
Well going on current guidance from the Scot Gov the nightclub side of things is still to be reviewed as is the live music so won't be operational right away.
We can open as a pub, and although it's not what we normally do and have become know for in the last decade - it has to happen in order to kick start things at the club that has always been there for you, and slowly build things back up so when the shackles come off we will be ready to fire on all cylinders.
We can and will still have music/videos playing for you to enjoy (at a level where you don't have to shout) and although can't have live performers on the stage just yet we have a massive back catalogue of acts and bands all recorded that will be re-played for you until we can restart the live music and pump up the jam.....eh music levels once more. Something you won't get anywhere else for sure.

As we have a very large capacity venue compared to many others in town we have the space to socially distance very well over BOTH LEVELS. Granted we can't allow the hundreds in initially that would come to a packed out gig or night in the Rock Club we will plan to use every inch at our disposal while providing a safe and enjoyable night out as we have done for decades before.

IT WILL BE DIFFERENT - We know that and hopefully you can take in the changes that have to happen in the short term in order to re-open also what will be asked of you.
We appreciate not everyone will know what to do or want to come out but if you have any questions at all don't just shoot it out on social media - ask us direct. You will get a direct answer.

That's all for now folks as I have a manuscript to prepare that will be our revised Risk Assessment and Guidance for all staff and customers as well as prepare for the day we can see all your smiley/crabbit* faces back at the only place that ROCKS EVERY WEEKEND (*delete where appropriate)

June Lockdown Review feedback with July gig updates.

Hi Folks a wee bit of feedback on the lockdown review and some July gig News/Updates

We all awaited with baited breath this afternoon on the news from Scot Gov regarding entering phase 2 and the possibility of Pubs being able to open a very limited beer garden service outside. A wee glimmer of hope the trade can function once more.

Prior to the announcement of this happening or what turned out to be the lack there of we had already heard thro trade sources that it's not as straightforward as many would think of turning up round the back of the pub, planking themselves down on a bench and the beer fairies would appear.

News came thro that you wouldn't actually be allowed inside a pub so would have to be waited on outside.
Awesome many would think.....well until they need a PEE or to wash their hands as we are all encouraged to do.
Not allowed inside means just that no access to the toilet from what I was hearing. So that's possibly one of the "ah - we never thought of that" moments that has sparked a wee rethink and delay.
Anyhoo
That's still all academic and up in the air as it's not happening for now, and we STILL await guidance on what businesses like ourselves need to do in order to prepare to reopen and when, even roughly that might be.

The only news out of today is that there is no change on the cards until start of July and at that is still a review still to decide what can or will happen.

So as a result we will have to continue to re-arrange most likely another full month of live events at the club.
As of last week and today the following shows are now postponed and cancelled.

3 July - P!nk tribute - Pretty as P!nk.
When this was re-arranged from May there was a bit of optimism that everything was moving on to relax the lockdown. Both the band and ourselves were thinking this could be the start we all need but as the weeks have ticked past it was becoming clear we needed to re-plan things again. Apologies but there is no way the band will be able to rehearse together even with the slightly relaxed guidance today and as a venue no chance we will get any guidance, advice or indeed permission to be able to open in time for this event.
A follow up date was already in the Calendar so will simply Postpone the July one til then.
We really hope you can stick with us and hold on to the tickets for it.

ALL TICKETS will remain valid for the December date.
Skiddle will email you and ask if you wish your tickets to be carried forward.
You can reply requesting a refund for the face value of the ticket back to the card you purchased on ALONG with the new booking fee credit onto your skiddle account to re-use for future tickets at the club that no other ticket agent is offering.
We would ask all ticket holders to move to the new date to support the club and band as well as providing a stonking night of live music when the time comes.

4 July - GIMPFIST
Arranged a long long time ago to bring the lads back to Bathgate was awesome. When this Pandemic hit in March we saw a massive drop in ticket sales and even then the worry was this might not be able to go ahead due to poor sales which remained the case until cancelled 2 weeks ago now. It simply wasn't going to be viable in the current climate. Ultimately it would have suffered the same fate as 3rd July gig as well on timescales etc.
Unfortunately due to the bands 2020 and 2021 commitments and schedule getting a new date has been discussed exhaustively by Market Town and just couldn't get anything re-arranged for now I'm afraid. We don't want like other places to have ticket holders hanging on for months to see if anything can be done so reluctantly cancelled. As you will get a refunds also a booking fee credit to use on another gig in the next 12 months please fee free to use that on another coming up.

11 July - Harsh.
As the lads are from France the additional restrictions of quarantine for two weeks condemned this event and just wouldn't be viable to go ahead regardless of what Scot Gov came up with. Nothing more I can say other than it's been re-arranged for 2021 and already showing in the event listings. Please please check the lads out and grab a ticket for them coming back over.

More advice and guidance will follow very soon regarding the remainder of July events from us but as you can imagine despite being ready to rock at a moments notice we will have to be guided by yet to be produced information and provided with dates still be agreed on when that will be allowed.

We really appreciate your patience, understanding and continued ticket purchasing in this difficult and challenging time for all the industry and Scotland's Longest Running Rock Club.

June 2020 General News

Hi Folks.
We hope you are all well and safe at this time.

Into June we go and nearly 3 months since our last live event and nightclub action.
Bet many are wishing they made the most of coming to see the bands at the start of March now.
Strange how things change and what you took for granted.

Many thanks again to all who are still keeping in touch with us, also those who are being very patient and understanding with tickets purchases for events that have had to be postponed or cancelled.

Here are a few updates for June at the Club.

Skiddle have introduced a booking fee credit recently which is a fantastic positive in these negative times - you can read all about it on a Special page over by CLICKING HERE.

We still await guidance as the whole industry are on what will be required to make the club Covid Safe.
One thing for sure it's not going to be how it was before the lockdown.
What will be required and what will be allowed or when will take alot of work also understanding from you guys too but at the end of the day no matter what way you look at things it will all boil down to what you think will be safe or actually want to go out. We can't make that decision for you.
There is only so much any company can do to reduce the risk of transmission or infection.
While we will do everything that is possible and affordable to make for a safe, clean and enjoyable environment as we always have it will be a new and different way of rocking for us all.
We are working away on possible scenarios and outline details but until we all know what is likely to happen have to sit tight at the moment.
The venue has been deep cleaned, painted and scrubbed top to bottom in the last few months in preparation for the day we can re-open. Some of which you might notice and appreciate the hard work that has gone in to get rocking once more.

Forthcoming Events :
Until we know the new landscape and timescales of re-opening we will have to continue to review in line with the lockdown 3 weekly roadmap or phases from the Governments our forthcoming events.
Alternative plans are being discussed with all bands constantly so when we get to a point we know that the event just can't go ahead then the alternative arrangements are announced whether it be postponed to a new date or cancelled outright.
One thing I would like to mention now and also mentioned in the Skiddle Booking Credit Blog is that we hope you continue to purchase tickets for forthcoming events. They still need to be supported in order to happen. I know many are desperate to go but still holding off, however there will come a point you will have to decide what to do and buy a ticket. Leaving it to the last minute might not be an option for many events in the future.
Already some events outlook is not looking good so we still may have to postpone or cancel due to lack of sales just as before lockdown.
I get the uncertainty and reluctance but as I mentioned in the Skiddle Booking Blog what's the worst that will happen ?
You get your money back, a full credit on your booking fee from Skiddle that no one else is doing or a new date to attend in the future. Support what you long to return to and grab your tickets.

Vip/Loyalty Cards :
All Loyalty Cards expire at the start of July each year.
Just about now we would be looking to renew them for those who have used them and expire cards that haven't been used enough.
During the shut down I have been thinking alot about the future of the scheme and in particular the last year where there was a split between nightclub and live music users. What worked, who was using them and what didn't work. Although well received and used for those who attend the most over the years allowing us to give something back to alot of people over the years who appreciated it with free entry to the nightclub worth upto £500 per year or free and discounted gig entry/tickets it's time I'm afraid to bring it to an end and the up front instant discount or free entry on the hope you attend well enough in the future that the card holders received.
It's ran it's course for nearly a decade with hundreds having been a card holder.
As we subsidised and absorbed ALL the free entry or discounts on tickets, going forward when we are allowed to re-open it simply won't be affordable any more in it's current form or can be factored in to our new operational budgets and structures.
It's something we prided ourselves on that no-one else in the Lothian's did for our most loyal of customers. Many thanks to all who took advantage of it and wanted to be part of the Vip clan.

HOWEVER, after much thought we would still like and want to reward those who still come week after week, many who didn't want or get full use of their Loyalty card.

So a much simplified Rewards Card Program will be made available for anyone in the very near future.
On re-opening normal entry costs and gig ticket pricing will be applicable for all to pay but with your rewards card you will be able build up points to use in the future every-time you come along to a gig or to the nightclub.
So for example one paid entry will give you one point.
Just get your card (that now won't expire) scanned in at the paybooth when you pay.
Build up enough points and you can exchange them in the future for free nightclub entry, a gig ticket, a drink or whatever rewards we can build in and afford. We might even get partners and businesses come on board who want to offer something too.  There also may be a regular special night that all rewards card holders get an instant freebie entry to the club or gig so will be well worth getting one.
Something again that NO other club or venue offers in the Lothian's.
You might get enough points in a few weeks, months or a year even to redeem.
That will be down to you and how often you attend also how and what you spend your points on.
It won't cost anything to have a rewards card and will be open to all to have one.
Full details on how to get registered for one will follow but will be done ONLY online as making out the scribbles and email addresses on the old vip probationary cards method was getting impossible to make out and just wasn't working latterly.
More info to follow on all that in the coming weeks hopefully while balancing everything else to be done in order to get back Rocking.

That's it for now folks.

Stay Safe and really look forward to get going very soon.

June News - Skiddle Booking Fee Credit.

News - Booking Fee Credit has launched from Skiddle

In these very uncertain times and mass postponements of events a great bit of news has come out from our Ticket Agent that hopefully will help kick start ticket purchasing again for future events as there is a wee light at the end of the tunnel emerging.

As you may or not know, it is industry standard amongst ticket agents to retain booking fees when events are cancelled partly due to the costs/time involved in processing booking refunds also as the costs of staff, developing and maintaining the system has to be covered somehow in running their superb platform from a very small booking fee.
Skiddle was one of the very few ticket agents to have refunded booking fees in full in the past and one of the reasons we made them our ticket partner nearly a decade ago. The very odd and rare cancellation costs of events could be absorbed. However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, they have been forced to rethink this policy for cash flow reasons, so it’s fantastic they have instead now developed a Booking Fee Credit system for ticket customers and as far as we are aware the only ticket agent to offer credit on booking fees out there.

Great news - Better still, this credit process will be also be backdated right to March where all the cancellations began.

It’s a straightforward process for your Dreadnoughtrock Bookings.

So - When your ticket(s) is refunded via skiddle due to us unfortunately having to cancel an event as no new date can be set with the band or you opted for a refund due to a postponement and can’t make the new date, you will now get the option to claim your full booking fee as a credit.
The Face Value of the ticket will go back on your card/ into your bank as it normally would but the booking fee credit will be stored on your skiddle account to use on your next order for another gig at the club. This is fantastic news and hopefully give you a wee bit peace of mind when you might have been holding off knowing the booking fee worth upto a couple of quid per ticket would be lost as only your face value of the ticket would have been refunded.

If this could help make your mind up to commit to a ticket for an event in the future now you know that in essence you will not be out of pocket as there is a high chance you’ll be at a gig in the next 12 months with us then it will help us greatly.

Your support in re-start still buying tickets is still very much needed especially now as we begin to prepare and be ready to re-start live shows when we are allowed to do so.
I have always appreciated from March to now (June 2020) no one would be keen to buy a ticket for something that there was a high chance of being cancelled and throw away cash and appreciate at today’s date we still await full guidance and timescales to be issued from the government but hopefully this become clearer in the weeks ahead as things seem to be going in the right direction with businesses now being allowed to restart gradually.

What’s the worst that will happen ? We move the gig, postpone or cancel as it's still not time to rock yet.
You will get your ticket moved to a revised date or your ticket money back quickly with a credit on the booking fee to use in the next year.
What’s the Catch ? Well the Booking fee credit can only be redeemed on any event with us within the next 12 months. That’s it. All you need to do is click tick to apply the credit to your order when completing the payment process at the checkout for your next gig.

So if you asked for a refund or we had to cancel the event since Covid hit have a wee look on your skiddle account for the credit then have a wee look at what’s coming up at the Club in 2020 to use your credit on one of many cracking events we are hopeful to host at www.dreadnoughtrock.com

Stay Safe and Keep Rocking from all the Rock Crew.

Ongoing Pandemic at Dreadnoughtrock May 2020

We hope you are all doing well and staying safe out there.

Unfortunately we have missed some epic nights and live events since having to close on 20th March 2020.
Strange days. Time to reflect on what you just took for granted that you could go to the Dread when you wanted......but now you can't.

Even more frustrating we will have to remain closed until instructed and with no exact details we will have to postpone and re-arrange things as we go in an orderly fashion for as long as it takes.

Any postponements will flag up on our Social Media, Skiddle events pages and will keep the blog open with updates too.

As its stands ALL APRIL and MAY 2020 events have been postponed or cancelled.

Plans are already drawn up for June 2020 events but as the current lockdown period runs to end of May the chances of any the bands being properly gig ready will be slim also the possibility we will be ALLOWED to open are even slimmer by the reports and info we get in.

ALL THE REVISED DATES are now set up for all the March, April and May events.

Image may contain: possible text that says 'We are temporarily PAUSING ALL LIVE EVENTS and NIGHTCLUB OPERATIONS PAUSE We are aiming to re-open when Instructed, safe and prudent to do so. Keep and on social media and for more updates. Please keep your tickets online. Please remember IF anything postpones or cancels Skiddle will REFUND your ticket or move it to the re scheduled date. Thanks for your understanding and business in this difficult time. DREADNOUGHIROCK 14-16 King Street Bathgate www.dreadnoughtrock.com'

All tickets postponed will automatically be moved over to the new date by skiddle after 7 days but given the current circumstances could be upto 14 days. So hopefully the new date will suit and you want to support the club / event. You don't have to do anything as your ticket will be valid for the new date automatically same as a printed ticket would be.
IF however you cannot attend the new date you can request a refund for the FACE VALUE of the ticket via the email Skiddle will send. Anyone with a printed ticket will have to wait until the lockdown ends and outlets re-open I'm afraid and for a 14 day period after they re-open.
Any event that is cancelled outright will have refunds for the face value of the ticket to be issued within 7 days. Again anyone with printed tickets will get their cashback from point of purchase when they re-open without any issue or time restrictions.
We don't hold any of the online ticket money, that's all held by skiddle and we only get the face value of the ticket value after the event takes place.

PLEASE keep checking in on the site and info for updates.
We hope events later in the year will go ahead as planned so please grab a ticket where you can.

GOOD NEWS : We set up an online sore to move thro some stocks that are surplus or now getting short dated.
So if you fancy something click thro to https://dreadnoughtrock.my-online.store/

Stay Safe and hope to see all you Rocking with us when we get the Green Light to do so.
